Research in the School

The School of Social and Political Sciences is at the forefront of international and Australian research in the social sciences with particular strengths in the disciplines of  Political Science, Criminology, Sociology, Anthropology, Development Studies and Social Theory. There is a thriving research culture in the School based upon a large population of students researching higher degrees. Research is a priority for staff in the School which is reflected in the high number of publications including monographs and articles in the top international refereed journals. Additionally, many staff members hold large grants from the Australian Research Council and other funding bodies to carry out their research projects. Thus, the School of Social and Political Sciences provides a positive environment for both students and staff to engage in cutting edge research across the social sciences.
