Undergraduate

At the Undergraduate level students can take a major in Anthropology or, for those first enrolled before 2013, a major in Anthropology and Social Theory.  Students may also do a minor in Anthropology or in Development Studies.

Students who first enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) before 2013 cannot do the major in Anthropology, but may complete a major in Anthropology and Social Theory as offered in the Handbook for the year that they first enrolled.

Note that the major in Gender Studies  offered from 2013, and the minor in Social Theory , are also associated with this program.

Course and subject information

Anthropology and Development Studies subjects can be taken as part of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree or as Breadth study in other New Generation degrees.

Anthropology is available as a 100 point major and as a 75 point minor sequence in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.  Students who first enrolled in the BA before 2013 are able to undertake a 100 point major or 75 point minor in Anthropology and Social Theory

Development Studies is available as a 75 point minor sequence in the Bachelor of Arts degree.

Breadth Tracks

While most subjects in Anthropology and in Development Studies can be taken individually as Breadth study, a number of Breadth Tracks have been defined within Anthropology for those who want to explore particular themes in a little more depth:

Structures, Identity and Power

Students have access to learning material for subjects that they are enrolled in via the Learning Management System (LMS)
